What Is Licensing?
In the simplest terms, licensing is a legal agreement that allows you (the licensee) to use my artwork under specific conditions, while I (the artist) keep the copyright. Copyright law automatically protects original artwork, which means no one can legally use it without permission. Licensing is that permission, outlined in a contract.
Licensing means you’re paying for the right to use a design for a specific time, product, or market. You don’t own the copyright — I do — but you get the rights outlined in our agreement.
